On Friday, Oct. 21 the Manhasset Girls Swim Team swam undefeated against six-time defending county champion Garden City at USMMA before a SRO crowd. The Indians gave their best effort coming up short by a score of 97-83.
From the loss the girls came away with a moral victory over the county champions. The Manhasset team won two of three relays from the defending champions, just missing on the sweep by a touch. This is the first time in years that Garden City has been defeated in more than one relay in a dual meet.
These relays also mark a monumental achievement for the Indians. All three relays set new school records and place Manhasset as first place by time in all three relays in Nassau County.
The 200 Medley Relay Team of Whitney Quackenbush, Samantha Reiss, Chrissy Brodt and Amanda Goldstein broke the old record of 1:58.8 by swimming a 1:56.12.
The 200 Freestyle Relay Team of Chrissie Gotimer, Whitney Quackenbush, Amanda Goldstein and Chrissy Brodt swam a new record time of 1:43.30, besting the old school record of 1:43.72 that was recorded at last year's state championship meet.
The 400 yd Freestyle Relay Team of Elizabeth Henry, Amanda Goldstein, Chrissie Gotimer and Chrissy Brodt shattered the old mark of 3:56.6 by swimming a 3:52.08.
Congratulations on this remarkable achievement.
