The Manhasset High School boys cross-country team traveled to Providence, RI to race in the October 13 and 14 to race in the 23rd Annual Brown Invitational Cross-Country Meet. This was the 21st year the team has traveled to this meet at Goddard Park, which includes teams from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New York Schools.
Manhasset's senior captains, Matt Brennan and Erik Lawrence led the boys varsity team into the Varsity A 11 race. Brennan ran a team-leading 5K time of 17 minutes, 51 seconds for 17th out of 280 runners. He medaled and won a T-shirt for his efforts.
Richard Parsons (10th) Andy Hayes (8th) Robert Maisano (9th), Erik Lawrence (12th), Andreas Molnar (11th), Don Yun (12th), John Hong (12th), Jon Chiou (12th) and Ryan Sprotte (9th) all ran strong races behind Brennan, often in 6 inches to 1 foot of water on the course.
The team is enjoying an excellent season, being undefeated 9-0 in league meets with five additional meets on Saturday, as invitational Matt Brennan, Richard Parsons, Andy Hayes, Robert Maisano, Erik Lawrence and David Knowles have scored in all the meets. Joe Composto (10th) Michael Drago (9th) and Sean Kelly (10th) have also contributed.
The team has one league meet and the playoffs (conference, county and states) to race in the next three weeks.
