The mayor and board of trustees of the Incorporated Village of Munsey Park held their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Village Hall, and passed a resolution raising the fines for illegal parking around the Munsey Park School from $30 to $100.

Hollywood is knocking at Munsey Park's door once again! The Good Shepherd Production Company asked the board of trustees if they could film for one more day, some time in November. This will only be for the exterior house shoot on Bellows Lane. Christie Mullen, location manager and Lynn Powers, assistant location manager, explained that they would be writing to most of the immediate neighbors about the project. The production company wanted to do one winter scene with snow. The board approved the application with the stipulation that they notify the Nassau County Police, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, the Manhasset School District, the Munsey Park School and the school bus company, which services the village. The resolution also requests specifications regarding the material and techniques to be used for the proposed artificial snow. This proposal will be furnished to the village arborist for a final recommendation.

With all of the invasions and robberies in the Nassau and Suffolk communities these days all homeowners should be more alert and secure their homes. It was suggested that doors, windows and all cars should be locked and that homeowners should leave a light on all night in and around the house. If residents see anything that is not normal call 911, this was requested by the 6th Precinct for immediate service.

The board also discussed that all homeowner should be aware that all outside work needs a permit. It is the homeowner's responsibility to secure a permit, not the contractor or the company that you order doors, windows, or any or other exterior work from even if you are doing same for same work. If you are replacing any door with a design change this requires you going to the Building Advisory Committee for them to review your application. When in doubt call the village hall at 365-7790. Also, all contractors must be licensed and insured.

The board approved the Munsey Park Women's Club request for use of Waldmann Park for the Club's annual Halloween Parade on Sunday, Oct. 30.

In other business the board approved the 2005 leaf pickup schedule. Bagged leaves may be placed at the curb where they will be picked-up on six consecutive Mondays commencing Nov. 7 and running through Dec. 5. Loose leaves must not be placed in the street.

Ken Pritchard of Dvirka & Bartilucci provided the board with an update on the pending road improvements. The board then authorized Dvirka & Bartilucci to prepare design specifications and contract documents for road improvements bids as follows:

1. The balance of Abbey Road, from Allston Place to the south side of Hunt.

2. Abbey Road north from the South Side of Park to Kensett Road.

3. All of Nassau Avenue.

4. Park Avenue, from Abbey Road to the end of Park Avenue just before the turn going to Port Washington Boulevard.

The board anticipates this work starting in the spring of 2006. Next meeting of the board of trustees will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m
