On Friday, Sept. 30 division rivals Sewanhaka and Manhasset clashed for sole possession of first place. Manhasset prevailed 96-80 over Sewnahaka (4-1) to improve to 4-0 on the season and sole possession of first place.
The meet took place in front of a spirited SRO crowd at the Merchant Marine Academy. The Indians took an early lead by winning the first event and setting a new school record (best time in Nassau County this season). The school record 200 yd medley relay consisting of Whitney Quackenbush, Samantha
Reiss, Chrissy Brodt and Amanda Goldstein won in a time of 1:58.38.
At the half way point in the meet the Indians led by 2 points. The 100 yd Freestyle was the turning point when Manhasset placed 1st, 2nd and 4th.
The meet remained close, but the girls never trailed. The Manhasset team captured 1st place finishes in all 3 relays to help lead them to victory.
The 200 yd Free Relay team consisting of Samantha Reiss, Dana Matesich, Elizabeth Henry and Amanda Goldstein won in a time of 1:50.86. The 400 yd Free Relay team consisiting of Elizabeth Henry, Whitney Quackenbush, Chrissie Gotimer and Chrissy Brodt won in a time of 3:57.46.
Individual winners include Chrissy Brodt 2:14.94 in the 200 yd IM and 5:18.50 in the 500 yd free, Amanda Goldstein 26.30 in the 50 yd Free and Chrissie Gotimer 56.51 in the 100 yd Free.
