League of Women Voters Discuss Electronic Voting Machines
The Nassau County Board of Elections must make a decision in the near future about replacing the current "lever" voting machines with electronic voting machines. The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Port Washington-Manhasset recently hosted an informative discussion on the topic. There was a sizable turnout for the event, which was held at the Port Washington Public Library. The meeting was chaired by Sue Fitzgerald and Edna Vincenti, co-presidents of the LWV.

Due to all M-LFD Companies being committed to the scene, mutual aid units from the Great Neck Vigilant, Port Washington, New Hyde Park, Garden City Park and Plandome Fire Departments covered M-LFD stations during the fire. All M-LFD units were released at approximately 1 p.m.

The Manhasset Indians were enjoying their winning steak to start the season, but it came to an abrupt end this past Saturday, as the Roosevelt Rough Riders soundly defeated the Indians, 52-15 at Roosevelt High School.

Girls Swim Team Defeats Division Rival
On Friday, Sept. 30 division rivals Sewanhaka and Manhasset clashed for sole possession of first place. Manhasset prevailed 96-80 over Sewnahaka (4-1) to improve to 4-0 on the season and sole possession of first place.
