(Ed. Note: The following letter was sent to the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce which forwarded it to the Manhasset Press for publication.)

I was shopping in Manhasset on Saturday, July 30 and I was shocked to see the conditions of the streets and sidewalks.

Who is in charge of cleaning these places? There was just plain trash, wrappers, soda cans, tissues, - you name it - in the streets and sidewalks.

I was down near the medical area 535, and around all those little trees at the curbs, trash in the squares and weeds and some poor little flowers trying to come through.

I come from Port Washington and, for the most part, its shopkeepers clean their areas and the streets are basically clean.

I was just really shocked, as this has always been a lovely town.
