Munsey Park Hosts Hollywood
Officer Bill Bendel was patrolling the corner of Ryder Road and Abbey Road in Munsey Park on Wednesday, Aug. 17, diverting cars from the set of The Good Shepherd. Excitement ran high with Matt Damon, Robert DeNiro and Angelina Jolie in the neighborhood. The movie chronicles the tumultuous early years of the CIA, thus is a period piece set in the '30s through the early 1960s, which explained the vintage cars parked behind orange cones along Manhasset Woods Road.

Manhasset Bay Water Quality Rated Good
The Town of North Hempstead in conjunction with the Nassau County Department of Health has found that the water quality levels in Manhasset Bay are good. Sources monitoring the bay have said, if they were required to assure the public that a beach on the bay was safe for bathers, they would do so. Weekly open water testing procedures, which began last year, confirm this finding.

Field of Dreams: Manhasset's Fab 5 Returns to MHS to Practice
Of the 150 best lacrosse players in the world, five call Manhasset home. Beginning their careers playing on Manhasset's P.A.L. teams, Conor Denihan, John Gagliardi, Tim Goettelmann, Blake Miller, and Nick Murtha would all grow up to play major league lacrosse. As members of the Long Island Lizards, the "Fab 5," as they are called, have reunited to represent Manhasset and Long Island in one of America's oldest games.

Suzanne Fields Inducted Into the Ultimate Frisbee Hall of Fame
When someone suggests playing with a "Frisbee" many think of tossing a plastic disc at the beach, backyard or giving the dog a bit of exercise. "Ultimate Frisbee" is different. It is a team sport of seven on a side, played worldwide by enthusiasts who play the game with a passionate dedication. It uses the plastic disc but that is where the similarity ends. It has a spirit of the game, a philosophy of competition that is contrary to most competitive sports. You play the game in a manner where you look to win but also to win the respect of your opponent and the people who play the game is paramount. This spirit was born in the '60s and early '70s and is part of the official rules.
