William Butler Yeats once remarked that education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. Those who knew Joseph Zoller were well aware that his passion for learning burned brightly. His family has established a scholarship fund at his Alma Mater, Fordham University, to provide financial assistance to those who might not otherwise be able to afford an advanced degree. While Joseph met a young and untimely death, his friends and family are encouraged by the possibility that through this scholarship fund the dreams of others may be ignited to burn brightly in his memory.

Excitement is building as the date for the first annual Joseph C. Zoller Fundraiser approaches. The golf outing and dinner will be held at the Nassau Country Club on Monday August 15. Monsignor Thomas Hartman, known for his popular television show God Squad will be the special honoree.

Word has spread quickly that many fantastic items for silent and live auction have been donated to kick off this worthwhile event. Contributors throughout the Port Washington and Manhasset community have enthusiastically embraced this opportunity to pay tribute to Joe's loving memory by lending significant support for this fundraiser. Highlights of the prizes donated include rounds of golf at some of Long Island's most prestigious golf courses. The National Course in the Hamptons, as well as the challenging Fresh Meadow, Plandome and Nassau Country Clubs are sites that will be played by lucky winners. Other coveted prizes include weekend getaways, theater and sport tickets and a variety of other surprise packages. Golfers will be excited to learn that they will have three chances to win a car for a hole-in-one! It may be the Jet Blue Golf Challenge, however, that will generate the most buzz. This challenge holds the promise of promoting good spirits and great competition by providing participants with the opportunity to win a million dollars.
