Robert S. Gary, 71, passed away in Palmyra, VA after a brief illness on Thursday, May 19. He had been a resident of Manhasset for 38 years, until 1976. He attended the Manhasset public schools and was graduated from high school in 1952. Robert was a graduate of SUNY-Farmingdale. As a volunteer and later a professional executive with the Boy Scouts of America, during a 36-year career he served councils in Nassau, Brooklyn and Suffolk counties on Long Island, and in New Jersey and Connecticut.

He is predeceased by his parents Charlotte and Walter and brother John. Robert is survived by his sister Nancy of Washington, DC, and brothers Walter of Walla Walla, Washington; Thomas of Manhasset; Peter of Springfield, VA; and Paul of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services were held May 21 in Charlottesville, VA, and burial at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington May 24, 2005.
