Strathmore Residents Hear Development Proposal
It was a standing room only crowd at the meeting hosted by Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Wayne Wink on Wednesday, June 8 at Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to provide the owner and developer of the property located at The Gate (the site of the old Village Bath Club) in Strathmore Village an opportunity to present to the community a proposal for the site. Supervisor Kaiman indicated that since the proposal would require rezoning from Residence A to commercial/retail community support for the rezoning would be required.
A Tradition Continues - The Ken Molloy 5K Run
Around 8:30 a.m., the morning of Saturday, June 11, runners, numbers attached, were jogging in place and stretching their muscles in anticipation of the 9 a.m. start on Plandome Road of the Annual Ken Molloy 5K Run sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Always held on the second Saturday in June this unseasonably hot morning undoubtedly kept some walkers/runners at home unwilling to leave the air conditioning. The race honors the late NYS Supreme Court Judge Ken Molloy and the money raised supports the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation.

Lake Travis in Austin, Texas was a busy place last week. That is where the 2005 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association's (ICSA) North American Championships were held, an event that brings together sailors from 25 schools, representing seven North American districts, to compete in three distinctive events. The Southeastern Intercollegiate Sailing Association and the Austin Yacht Club hosted the week-long event, which included the Women's and Dinghy events, plus the Team Race Championships.
