The Manhasset girls varsity track team placed sixth out of 18 schools at the Nassau County Spring Track Championships held at Mitchel Park in Uniondale. Natalie Bindert was the Nassau champion in the 2000 meter steeplechase, running a new school record time of 7:42.9. She also placed fourth in the 800 meters at these championships.
Lisa Mascali earned All-County status in the 3000 meters running a personal best of 11:18.2. Lindsey Ready once again competed admirably in the hurdle events. She placed fifth in the 100m hurdles along with Elizabeth Whipple placing seventh. Lindsey also ran the difficult 400 meter hurdle race, placing third at 73.2 seconds and earned All-County status. Laura Weber also competed in the 100 meter hurdles and triple jumped a respectable 29'63/4" for her first County meet experience as a ninth grader.
The 4 x 800 meter relay captured third place and ran 10:32.4. The team was made up of Hilary Gallo, Kaitlin Powers, Lisa Mascali and Natalie Bindert.
All of the runners mentioned will be competing at the individual state qualifier this week to earn spots at the state championships to be held in Syracuse on June 3 and 4.
