Glenn E. Taylor Jr. died peacefully in his home in Boca Raton, FL. after living a wonderful full life of 82 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy (Savage), and three children, Glenn III, Cheryl (Murphy) and Bradley and six loving grandchildren.
Born in New Orleans, LA., Glenn graduated from Tulane University where he was later on the board of directors and served as a naval officer in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He worked on the Manhattan Project and after the war with the State Department in Washington where he met and married Nancy before entering private industry. He was a successful chief financial executive for several large NYC corporations; owned a specialty trucking company and served on the boards of a number of oilfield service companies in Houston and Edmonton.
Glenn lived in Strathmore Vanderbilt and Plandome Manor from 1956 to 1980. He was a past president of the Strathmore Vanderbilt Club, and active member of both Plandome Country and Manhasset Bay Yacht Clubs. He was a gifted athlete in college, played semi pro baseball, and was an avid tennis player and golfer. Two of his granddaughters, Lauren and Kate, have demonstrated their athleticism on the tennis courts and lacrosse fields of Manhasset High School. He was a role model to his family with a special gift to his grandchildren of love, support, wisdom, and logic in a warm, humorous and gentle way. He will be missed greatly, in lieu of flowers, kindly send donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
