The sixth grade lacrosse team coached by John Gagliardi and Blake Miller moved its record to 2-0 with an impressive 9-5 victory over Half Hollow Hills. Under a bright blue sky, Manhasset jumped to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, leading 5-1 at half and 7-3 after three quarters.
Manhasset's offensive assault was spread across eight players as Sean Connors (2 goals, 3 assists), Matt Conway (2 goals, 1 assist), Conor Golden (1 assist), John King (1 goal, 1 assist), Jake Kinsley (2 goals, 1 assist), Harry Kucharczyk (2 assists), Joe Mancini (1 goal), and Andrew Procaccino (1 goal) all contributed to Manhasset's scoring. The score was closer than it might have been, as shots by Connors, Evan Read, and Kucharczyk just missed. Manhasset's 8-4 edge in faceoffs gave the sixth grade boys the possessions they needed to control the game. Manhasset's ground ball play was led by Sean Connors, Billy Davis, Harry Kucharczyk, Max Egan, Sean McIntee, Jake Kinsley, and Kevin Grimm.
Evan Molloy had another solid day in goal, recording eight saves and directing the Manhasset defense. The defense, led by John Maimone-Medwick, Sean McIntee, Brian Barbaccia, and Max Egan, turned away HHH time and time again.
As satisfying as the victory was and as decisive the margin, the boys will continue to work on even better ball control, ball movement, and offensive spacing. Coach Gagliardi's charges travel east next week to face perennial powerhouse, Three Villages, in what promises to be an exciting contest.
