Robert Blissert, 91, of Southbury, CT, formerly of Manhasset and Naples, FL, died April 6. He was the husband of Virginia (Mitchell) Blissert.

Mr. Blissert was born Feb. 26, 1914, in New York City, son of the late Francis and Mary (Clarke) Blissert. He was raised in Mount Vernon, NY and attended Fordham University. He served in the 242nd Infantry Rainbow Division during WWII, where he earned a bronze star. He retired as president and chairman of Wire-O-Binding, Inc. after 54 years. An avid sailor, he was past commodore of North Shore Yacht Club, a former active member of St. Mary's Parish in Manhasset since 1947, member of Knights of Holy Sepulchre and a longtime supporter and donor to many philanthropic associations.

Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves six daughters and their husbands: Barbara Blissert of Pleasanton, CA, Joan and Perry Burns of Greenwich, CT, Mary and William Kelly of Medfield, MA, Kathleen and Joseph Rooney of Sammamish, WA, Frances and Michael McCutchin of Irvine, CA and Ginny and Keith Bachman of New Canaan, CT; one brother, Father Richard C. Blissert CSSR of Brazil; one sister, Rita Blissert of Yonkers and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held Mon., April 11 at Sacred Heart Church, Main Street South, Southbury, CT. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arthur Whittaker, the evening of March 30, 2005, at the age of 89, passed away quietly in his sleep, attended by members of his family. He was born and raised in Medford, MA and graduated from Medford High School in 1934. He went on to receive an associate degree from the Cambridge Academy and a JD from Northeastern Law School in 1941.

Mr. Whittaker worked as a special agent in the FBI until 1946 and then for Pacific Mills and McCann-Erickson in New York, prior to striking out on his own in 1957. He founded both the equipment leasing company, Conway-Whittaker, Inc. and the private investigation firm, Whittaker Associates.

Mr. Whittaker married Theodora Linzee of Boston, MA in 1941 and the family lived in the Village of Munsey Park in Manhasset for 10 years before moving to Brookville, LI from 1958-84. He then lived in Glen Cove, LI, Ridgefield, CT and finally Somers Manor in Somers, NY.

He was an active member of his community, serving as president of the Munsey Park Association and he and Theodora were very involved with the "Little Club" drama group in Manhasset.

He is survived by his wife, Theodora Linzee, their three children, J. Linzee, Robert and Susan Brancati, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Manhasset at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6 .
