Her dad and Grace in early 2004. Grace will be a special guest at the 30th Anniversary Ball being held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York's Times Square on April 9.

The Manhasset Rotary Club responded to a plea for help from the Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda in the December 1973 issue of the Rotarian Magazine. Grace Agwaru was suffering from a congenital heart defect and would not survive. Grace came to Manhasset with her dad on October 28, 1975 to receive a "gift of life" through the miracle of open heart surgery. Since then, Rotary Clubs and districts around the world have provided this care to over 6,000 children from 60 countries.

Today, Grace is 35 years old. She is an agricultural economist helping the people in Uganda determine what crops to grow, how to grow them and how to market them. Grace is a gift that keeps on giving.

Grace will be a special guest at the 30th Anniversary Ball being held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York's Times Square on April 9. For more information, contact the Gift of Life office at 504-0830.
