A Manhasset Rotary and Gift of Life Story
The Manhasset Rotary Club responded to a plea for help from the Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda in the December 1973 issue of the Rotarian Magazine. Grace Agwaru was suffering from a congenital heart defect and would not survive. Grace came to Manhasset with her dad on October 28, 1975 to receive a "gift of life" through the miracle of open heart surgery. Since then, Rotary Clubs and districts around the world have provided this care to over 6,000 children from 60 countries.

Long Island Expressway HOV Lane Debacle
Legislative members announced that they plan to hear from New York State Department of Transportation officials on the status of the recently-stalled Long Island Expressway HOV lane construction project. The legislature has scheduled a full legislative hearing on the matter for April 4 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at One West Street in Mineola.

MHS Track Team Prepares for Outdoor Season
As the Manhasset Outdoor Track team athletes, led by coaches Don Scott and Greg Fried, prepare for the 2005 outdoor season, on their minds is the elusive streak. Since the 1970s, the Manhasset track team has not lost a single league meet, dominating Nassau County track with sweeping victories and a myriad of undefeated seasons, conference, and county championships.

St. Mary's Win 10th State Title
Continuing the long tradition of winning, the Gaels of St. Mary's battled back from a 2-0 deficit to win their seventh straight New York State High School Championship at their home rink, Iceworks. St. Mary's hockey team has won the New York State Amateur Hockey Association title each year from 1995-1997 and 1999 through 2005. This is an outstanding achievement for the Gaels hockey team.
