To have a Manhasset resident or residents call our teachers greedy (Proud or Laughing Stock - Paul Early - March 3) is as sensible and enlightened as Marie Antoinette's famously dismissive statement "Let them eat cake."

We businessmen, lawyers, doctors, Wall Street mavens or generals may be said to lust for money or power ... but teachers! This type of dishonest rhetoric against our teachers is demeaning to them and should be embarrassing to any thoughtful member of this community. Unfortunately, we the citizens of Manhasset are the greedy ones, not our intelligent, hardworking and far too polite teachers.
