On behalf of the Long Island State Veterans Home, I would like to thank the Manhasset School District for participating in Assemblyman DiNapoli's "Valentines for Veterans" donation drive. The school children, parents, teachers and staff, administrators and community members all contributed to the success of this project. They generously donated and touched the hearts of the veterans we serve as well as their families.
I would also like to thank Assemblyman DiNapoli for sponsoring and promoting the drive and Judy Bosworth from his office for helping to coordinate. What made it even more meaningful and significant was that they called first to inquire about what types of items our residents most needed and focused the drive on that.
The Long Island State Veterans Home is a 350-bed skilled nursing facility, located on the campus of Stony Brook University. We provide long-term nursing care and adult care to veterans and their families. Our residents and their families truly are grateful when members of the community show their support and appreciation. It shows them that they have not been forgotten and our society still appreciates the sacrifices they made to keep our country free and secure.
Thank you for helping us acknowledge the Manhasset School District's participation.
