Site Based Budgeting at the Middle School
The board of education meeting Feb. 17 continued down the path taken at the Feb. 3 board meeting, and Richard McMahon, principal of the middle school, much as the two elementary principals had done before him, presented the numbers as they appear in the sixth budget draft. The budget for Draft Six is $69,815,902, a 7.2 percent budget-to-budget increase from last year. Dr. Austin Gavin, interim assistant superintendent of business, again stressed the budget was a work in progress.
Richard A. McMahon Named Middle Level Principal of the Year
The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) has selected Richard A. McMahon, middle school principal of Manhasset Union Free School District, as its 2004-2005 Middle Level Principal of the Year. McMahon is being honored for his commitment in creating new opportunities and programs for the students of the middle school.

Boys Swimming Division Championships
The Manhasset Boys Varsity swim team continued their successful ways by finishing third at the Division Championships. The Indians were the fourth seed entering the meet.
