In the Book of Ecclesiastes we are told that "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." It is not always easy to determine the correct time for every action. We can but try. After many years, I have decided that it is time for me to retire from the Manhasset Press, an action I take with mixed emotions. The years at the paper have given me much for which to be grateful-friends and acquaintances, a sense of doing useful work, involvement in the community at all levels. I will miss much about what editing the Manhasset Press entails, although I hope to stay involved with the friends and causes that have been a large part of my life. My decision has been made easier by the fact that the position of editor will be filled by Pat Grace, who has been covering school news and other events for the paper for the past year. A lifelong resident of Manhasset, she understands our community and will be a great asset to the newspaper. What makes a local paper succeed is the extent to which the residents participate in its content. Please continue sending us your opinions in the form of letters, your social and sports news, your pictures. We'll be around until the end of December so this is not quite a final farewell.
