James E. Sharkey, current chairman of the Manhasset-Lakeville Water and Fire Board of Commissioners, is seeking re-election on Dec. 14 and I believe he deserves our community's support.

Through a long career with ExxonMobil and over 20 years on the board of commissioners, Jim has the business experience and sophistication to execute the multiple tasks that arise in the daily operations of the water and fire districts.

Jim is known for his integrity, patience, energy and enthusiasm and he brings all of these qualities to his work for the districts.

The district voters have a clear choice on Dec. 14, we can select one of the challengers to Chairman Sharkey, none of whom has any experience as an elected official or business administrator, or we can return James E. Sharkey to the board and reap the benefits of the great breadth of his proven experience, judgment and accomplishments.

I urge all my friends and neighbors to please go to the polls on Tuesday, Dec. 14, and make your vote count for yourselves and the community by returning James E. Sharkey to office as commissioner for all of us.

George E. Becker
