Geraldine McManus of Manhasset died on November 26, 2004. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's parish family for 45 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas McManus, loving mother of Mary Francis McManus and Joseph Patrick McManus, devoted mother-in-law of Peter Wolman and Amanda McManus, and cherished grandmother of Sara and Aaron Wolman and Matthew McManus. She was also the aunt of Diane and Dennis Phillips and Buck Phillips.

Services were held November 29, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

Vincent J. McCabe, longtime Manhasset resident, died on Nov. 21, 2004, surrounded by his family at St. Francis Hospital. He was 87 years old and was pre-deceased by his wife, Helen.

Mac, as he was known to many, was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he captured a German general. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star.

Mac worked for E. I. Dupont for 45 years as a sales manager. He was also very active in the American Legion Post 304 in Manhasset, the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Church.

Vincent is survived by his children: Patricia Schmitt, Dr. John, Thomas, James, Virginia Fallon and Robert. He was the cherished grandfather to 13.

Alma Rossi Sabrin, 86, of Manhasset and Westhampton Beach died peacefully November 23, 2004. Born in Torrington, CT, Alma was a scholar and competitive athlete who graduated top of her class. She then achieved honors at Mt. Sinai School of Nursing, including receiving a Guggenheim Fellowship and a teaching appointment. Former President of the Manhasset School Community Association and the Manhasset Student Aid Association, Alma also enjoyed working over 15 years in the Guidance Office of Manhasset High School, leading to retirement. A lifelong advocate of civil rights and equal opportunity in education, Alma was a role model for many. Intelligent and beautiful, compassionate and generous; an extraordinary person with boundless energy and an uncanny talent for bringing out the best in everyone. The care, wisdom and grace she selflessly bestowed as nurse, teacher, wife, mother, hostess, aunt, in-law, leader and friend, will be cherished forever by the countless many who will never forget her. Adored wife of the late Dr. George Sabrin, beloved mother of Russell, Douglas, Amy and Pamela, dear mother-in-law of Evans and Carole and inspirational grandmother of Adam, Michael and Lucy.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m., at Fairchild and Sons, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Alma Sabrin to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59003 or Manhasset Student Aid Association, PO Box 255, Manhasset, NY 10030.
