John O. Mead, age 82 of Manhasset, passed away on Oct. 20, 2004. He was retired co-owner and president of Printed Fabrics Corporation of New York and Carrollton, GA, longtime board member of Flushing Savings Bank, past president of Brookville Country Club, past trustee of the Village of Great Neck Plaza and Special Olympics volunteer. He graduated from Great Neck HS in 1940, Nichols College of Business Administration in 1942 and was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Manhasset, daughters Lynn Kress (Bernard) of Carrollton and Pat Higgins (Michael) of Port Washington, NY and son John O. Jr., of New York City, grandchildren Jamie Breslow of San Francisco, John Kress and Jeff Kress of Corrollton and Caeli Higgins and Kevin Higgins of Port Washington. Brother of Richard Mead and Kate Mead and the late George E. Mead Jr. Visitation was held at Fairchild Sons, Inc. Manhasset, 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22. Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manhasset, Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. Donations in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601, are suggested.
