The girls swim team is off to their best start ever! They are in the top conference in Nassau County and have posted a 5-0 record to date (4-0 in the division).

The Indians defeated #2 divisional seed Syosset 88-80 by winning 8 of 12 events. This victory guarantees them of winning a second division title. They have one more divisional opponent to swim, Cold Spring Harbor on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The Indians hold the tiebreaker edge over Syosset by beating them head to head.

On Tuesday Manhasset upset undefeated (3rd seed in Nassau County) Great Neck South by a score of 98-86.

The Indians took an early lead that they would never relinquish, stunning the home crowd at Great Neck South.

Many personal/season bests swims occurred in these meets to lead the Indians to victory. Senior Morgan Cotter swam a 26.29 in the 50 yd freestyle. Junior Amanda Goldstein swam a 2:33.50 in the 200 yd IM. Elena Yee swam a personal best 1:13 in the 100 yd butterfly. Several sophomores had personal best times. Chrissy Brodt set a school record in the 100 yd freestyle with a time of 54.6 and swam a season best 2:00 200 yd free, 2:19 200 yd IM. Dana Matesich swam a personal best 27.50 in the 50 yd freestyle. Meghan Lokay swam personal bests in the 50 yd free 31.9 and the 50 yd backstroke 36.8. Michele Lawrence swam personal bests in the 100 yd free 1:13.8 and 500 yd free 7:33. Chrissie Gotimer swam a personal best in the 50 yd backstroke 32.08 and 1:11 in the 100 yd backstroke. Many freshmen swam personal bests. Samantha Reiss swam a personal best 1:15.50 in the 100 yd breastroke. Whitney Quackenbush swam a personal best 26.62 in the 50 yd free. Jaclyn Carey swam a personal best 1:13.1 in the 100 yd butterfly. Corinne Riggin swam a personal best 1:16 in the 100 yd free. Amanda Usher swam a personal best 1:08 in the 100 yd free. Eighth grader Meghan Shea swam a personal best 2:18.1 200 yd free and 6:28 500 yd free, while classmate Allison Haspel swam a personal best 1:21.05 in the 100 yd breastroke.

The girls face their greatest challenge on Friday, Oct. 22 when they face #1 seed Garden City. The meet starts at 7:30 p.m. at the US Merchant Marine Academy.
