The beautiful weather on June 7 was just another win for the annual St. Francis Hospital Golf Classic, which honored longtime hospital supporter Nancy DeMatteis. More than 400 golfers enjoyed the beautiful sunshine at three of the north shore's premier courses and a beachside dinner at the Creek Club later that evening.

This was the 30th anniversary of this popular event, which was co-founded, in 1974, by Mrs. DeMatteis and quickly became the region's largest charity golf outing. Nancy DeMatteis has long been a cherished member of the St. Francis Hospital family and an ambassador to the community. Through volunteerism and philanthropy, she and her late husband Fred embraced the Hospital and its staff, enabling the Hospital to evolve into New York's leading heart center.

In recognition of Mrs. DeMatteis' continuing role as champion of women's diagnostic imaging services, proceeds of this year's event will benefit The Women's Center, located at The DeMatteis Center for Cardiac Research and Education, in Old Brookville.
