The Matthews/Wenk/Harmeyer fourth grade lacrosse team finished its season on a high note, winning at Rockville Centre this past Sunday 9-4 and beating a very hard hitting Wantagh team 6-4 the previous week--compiling a 7-1 record. The attack scored a plethora of goals led by Tommy Wenk, Conor McNamara, Bradley Harmeyer and Chris Brown. Their unselfish play was also supported by Eddie Troia, Nick Dipreta, Luke Minardi, John Hannon and Alan Probst.

The between-the-lines aggressive ground ball play of midfielders Quinn Moroney, Ryan Matthews, Brandon Barry, Martin Minardi, Luke Koskovolis and Christian Salvaterra kept the pressure on their opponents at all times. With stingy goalie Eric Tsiolas minding the net, a brick wall defense of Bobby Duvnjak, Sean Collins and the hard-nosed Ian Gillan made shooting very difficult for any talented attack men.

This team exemplifies great teamwork and sportsmanship all year and the coaches would like to thank all parents for their strong support throughout the season. The boys enjoyed a delicious victory celebration at Rosa's pizzeria, which was generously given by the Troia family.

This summer these laxers will participate in summer league and attend various lacrosse camps to improve their skills. Look out, Coach Lowe, you may have another state championship on the horizon with this group.
