Meet the Candidates for the Board of Education was sponsored by the League of Women Voters last Tuesday evening, May 4 at Manhasset High School. Approximately 80 residents heard the five candidates, Lawrence Belinsky, Reuben Cohen, Robert Douglas, Aline Khatchadourian and David Lewinson make opening statements, answer questions from the audience, then make brief closing remarks. This year's SCA fair was held on Saturday, May 1, with an abundance of sunny skies, happy children, wonderful rides, glorious games and delicious food. With the addition of an exciting assortment of vendors, an international food tent and a challenging rock wall, there was definitely something for everyone. How great is the community of Manhasset? In late March the Manhasset High School Booster Club decided that if we were ever to have a state-of-the-art outdoor athletic facility, we were going to have to do it privately. The problems were that we had no money and a project of this magnitude usually takes years. We had only four months. Impossible? No way.
