In a letter to the editor in today's Manhasset Press a reader expresses surprise that we covered a meeting of the group the Voice of the Faithful. Let us explain. The meeting in question took place in Manhasset and more than 200 people attended. Among its organizers were Manhasset residents. The Manhasset Press considers that a meeting of that size deserves coverage. Our presence there did not indicate endorsement of its sponsors, nor opposition to them, either by the editor or the reporter. We just think the public is entitled to know what occurred. Similarly we have covered meetings held by groups opposed to the school district's budgeting policies. We don't endorse them either but we think that they represent a point of view held by enough people in Manhasset to deserve coverage. We try to give our readers a picture of what's happening in their town. We don't always succeed but we will keep on trying.
