Parents of Gifted and Talented Speak Out
The Manhasset School District and the Board of Education (BOE) held a meeting March 18 which included discussions of program changes or reductions in Social Studies and English from kindergarten to grade 12. On the chopping block were the Gifted and Talented (G&T) and Dimensions programs and the majority of the audience sat quietly waiting for an opportunity to speak on behalf of those programs. When they did speak, they spoke eloquently and convincingly.

Councilman Wink Swears-In Bayview Civic Association
Councilman Wayne Wink inducted members of the Bayview Civic Association after a brief presentation yesterday in the board room of Town Hall. "As a former civic leader I know how thankless at times civic activism can be, but it is truly a vital function of our communities and provides a necessary mechanism through which to keep our neighbors informed," said Councilman Wink. "I look forward to working with them and my door is always open."

St. Mary's Defends State Title
With the New York State high school hockey playoffs just a week away, the Gaels are working hard preparing to defend their title with additional practices. St. Mary's defeated Massapequa recently in the seeding process for the States. They still have to play the Suffolk League Champs for the number one seed in the state.
