Employees of the US Postal Service are committed to providing you with quality service. Snow and ice storms add to your carrier's challenge. Therefore, in the interest of your carrier's safety, please be advised that delivery may be delayed or curtailed whenever streets or walkways present hazardous conditions.
Your mailbox must be accessible to your carrier. For curb line boxes, snow must be cleared for at least six feet on both sides of the mailbox, in order that your carrier may approach and leave without backing.
Your carrier is instructed not to attempt delivery when there is a heavy accumulation of snow or ice on sidewalks, steps or porches. If conditions prevent your carrier from reaching your mailbox, you may consider meeting the carrier upon delivery or arrange to pick up your mail at your local post office.
Numerous carriers have recently sustained injuries that may have been prevented. Your consideration for the safety of our valued employees is greatly appreciated.
