The Manhasset Girls Varsity Basketball team won its 3rd league game, making their conference record 3-0 when they defeated Valley Stream South on Jan. 9. Manhasset defeated Valley Stream South 57 to 22. Meghan Clarke, a junior, scored a career-high of 29 points for Manhasset, making five three-point shots. Dani Iervolino, an eighth grader, scored 12 points. Manhasset outscored Valley Stream South 20-6 in the third quarter. Also scoring for Manhasset was Kathleen Kelly (4), Mary Cuddihy (1), Juliet White (6), Christine Nash (1), and Laura Molins (4).

In their second league game, Manhasset defeated Valley Stream North 67 to 35. Meghan Clarke scored 11 points and Laura Molins scored 12 points. In the first quarter, Manhasset opened a 25 to 4 lead. Kathleen Kelly (8), Dani Iervolino (8), Juliet White (2), Cailinn Connolly (9), Meghan Gaffney (5), and Jessica Nevitt (4) also scored for Manhasset.

The Manhasset Girls Varsity Basketball team also played many non-league games over the holiday season. They defeated Garden City on Dec. 23 in a close game of 50 to 45. They also defeated Farmingdale in the "Shooting Hoops for Hope" benefit game, in which the team raised money to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Losses for Manhasset include Commack and Malverne. The Manhasset Girls Varsity Basketball team is coached by Suzanne Collins and assisted by Mr. John Kiggins.
