Nancy Larson Benisch of Manhasset died peacefully at home on December 21, 2003. She was the beloved wife of Charles E. Benisch and the loving mother of Christopher, Erik, Joanne and Jason; the beloved sister of Joan Lamers and sister-in-law of John Benisch and his wife, Muriel. Nancy loved her four grandchildren, Peyton, Spencer, Jacqueline and Larson. Her great spirit and beautiful heart will always be remembered. A funeral service was held at St. Mary's Church in Manhasset on Saturday, Dec. 27, followed by a reception at Manhasset Bay Yacht Club. Gertrude Catherine Bauer, formerly of Manhasset, died on December 25. 2003. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph. She is survived by her children, Anthony (Sue), Mary Mapleson, Cecelia Tierney (John), Teresa Newton (Dave), Catherine Wiederhold (Craig) and Jean Simensky (Scott). She was the devoted grandmother of 22 and great-grandmother of seven. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Cove. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 27, at St. Mary's R. C. Church in Manhasset with interment following at Locust Valley Cemetery in Locust Valley.
