A special meeting presented by the school district and the board of education was held Tuesday, Oct. 7 to discuss the building plans for the secondary school and capital plans throughout the district. It was a two-part workshop. First, Manhasset Board of Education Vice President Reuben Cohen, along with architect Roger Smith, provided information through a PowerPoint presentation illustrating the district's current needs and the proposed plan to address those needs. Second, a new approach, was an interactive format whereby residents divided into small groups and identified questions and concerns regarding the plan, selected the resulting three primary concerns, recorded them and reported back to the facilitator, Reuben Cohen, and the group- at- large. Manhasset fourth grade girls placed second in the North Hempstead Cup Soccer Tournament. Faced with a four-game, four-opponent championship tournament, the Manhasset Hurricanes blew into a tie for first place. Per tournament rules, the Hurricanes placed second based on total goals scored. FULL STORY
