District Presents Plans for Capital Improvements
A special meeting presented by the school district and the board of education was held Tuesday, Oct. 7 to discuss the building plans for the secondary school and capital plans throughout the district. It was a two-part workshop. First, Manhasset Board of Education Vice President Reuben Cohen, along with architect Roger Smith, provided information through a PowerPoint presentation illustrating the district's current needs and the proposed plan to address those needs. Second, a new approach, was an interactive format whereby residents divided into small groups and identified questions and concerns regarding the plan, selected the resulting three primary concerns, recorded them and reported back to the facilitator, Reuben Cohen, and the group- at- large. "Tonight is about listening", Mr. Cohen said. The interactive format encouraged every voice to be heard.

Park District Votes to Acquire Federated Property
At a special meeting called on Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Commissioners of the Manhasset Park District voted unanimously to approve the acquisition of 7.2 acres of land by condemnation.

Hurricanes Hit North Hempstead Cup
Manhasset fourth grade girls placed second in the North Hempstead Cup Soccer Tournament. Faced with a four-game, four-opponent championship tournament, the Manhasset Hurricanes blew into a tie for first place. Per tournament rules, the Hurricanes placed second based on total goals scored.
