On August 10, in front of 3,500 plus spectators, Tim Goettelmann of Manhasset High School and Loyola College broke the single game scoring record in Major League Lacrosse by scoring nine goals in 10 shots in a 23-16 Long Island Lizards victory over the New Jersey Pride. Goettelmann's nine goals against the Pride broke the MLL single scoring record of eight goals held by Casey Powell of the Rochester Rattlers.

Goettelmann, also known as "Monster" in the lacrosse world is considered one of the toughest players in the MLL to defend. With his massive physique at 6'4" and 220 pounds, Goettelmann possesses the dodging skills and power of Jeremy Shockey of the New York Giants. Goettelmann has created problems for opposing offenses throughout the MLL since he joined the league three years ago. He recorded his 100th career MLL point that day making him one of the leading scorers of all time in the MLL. Other Manhasset players on the Lizards, John Gagliardi, Conor Denihan and Matt O'Kelly, assisted on five of Goettelmann's nine goals that night.

When Timmy Goettelmann is not scoring goals for the Long Island Lizards he works in New York City for Tri-City Insurance Brokers where he is a property and casualty broker. Tim is also a co-director in Lax-It-Up boys and girls lacrosse fall leagues and clinics (laxitup.com) that take place at Buckley Country Day School every September and October.

With their victory against the NJ Pride, the Long Island Lizards clinched the Atlantic Division Championship and will be heading down to Villanova University to play in the final four of the MLL, which will be played live on ESPN2 and ESPN on Friday August 22 and Aug. 24. The Long Island Lizards are looking to win their second Major League Lacrosse Championship in three years.
