On The Bay
Manhasset Bay Race Week began as the MBYC Fall Series in the mid 1930s and was originally intended to be a post-Labor Day event. In 1962 the regatta was moved into August and renamed Manhasset Bay Race Week. This year's regatta, the 71st, was held on Friday through Sunday, August 7-10th. Rumor has it that Beth and Greg Danilek took top line honors in the Sonar Class by bringing in a "ringer" as their tactician on Housemartin, leading to complaints of unfair advantage.
