In a thrilling come-from-behind victory, the Dodgers prevailed 15 to 14 over an up and coming Yankees team in the Division championship game on June 16. The Yankees had shocked the undefeated regular season champion Mets in the semifinals, and had built a 5 run lead by the 4th inning of the final. But in the bottom of the 4th with two outs and the bases empty, the patient Dodger hitters struck quickly for 3 runs, and continued their rally with 4 more runs in the 5th. The defense also stiffened as the girls in blue allowed only one more Yankee run after the 4th, and they held on through a tense last inning, the game ending on a bases loaded strikeout.
