On the Bay
Manhasset Bay was rather quiet last Sunday, Father's Day, as many sailors were spending time with their families. For those who ventured out to enjoy a day's sail, they were disappointed as there was absolutely no wind. But the sun was bright against a beautiful blue sky dotted with white clouds. The waterfront included the full array of one-design boats. Several Sonars were waiting for the wind, as were the Manhasset Bay One Designs (MBODs) and the Knickerbocker One Designs (KODs). Also spotted were a few Ideal 18s, about seven teams of junior sailors in Optimists, who were participating in a pre-season training clinic, and large cruising boats, along with some under power. So the bay was active, but with no one going too fast (except for those with motors). There was no racing on Sunday, and results for Saturday will be reported next week.
