MHS Ranks 11th in Nation Based on AP Participation
Manhasset High School is receiving national attention once more. According to a story released in the June 2 issue of Newsweek magazine, Manhasset High School has the distinction of ranking number 11 among America's best high schools, based on student participation in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. This is the third time that MHS has been recognized as a superior school. Only three other Long Island high schools, Jericho, Cold Spring Harbor and Great Neck South, were named among the top 20.
Parade Rained Out But Memorial Day Celebrated
Manhasset's traditional Memorial Day Parade was rained out this year, to the disappointment of marchers and watchers alike, but the Memorial Day Ceremony took place in the auditorium at Manhasset High School. The rain was especially unwelcome this year because Public Access Television planned to film the parade, under the direction of Manhasset High School alumnus Brian Clemency. The American Legion's Richard Miller began the program by telling the story of the origin of Decoration Day after the American Civil War.
