Support for Troops Growing in Manhasset
Although there is a whole spectrum of opinions in Manhasset as to the road to war in Iraq, there is no lack of support for our troops presently fighting there or waiting to be sent there. Here at the Manhasset Press we have received a number of letters and telephone calls urging support for the members of our armed forces and for their families at home. One correspondent writes, "I believe that many people recognize and appreciate the sacrifices being made by our servicemen and women, and given the opportunity would like to assist them and their families where such assistance is needed. This could be anything from assistance with chores, moral support, financial assistance, etc. Perhaps merchants would participate with discounts for these families."

The New Library in Our Future
The Manhasset community spoke out loudly and clearly on March 19 in favor of a new library. The actual vote was 2371 in favor and 1041 against. Unfortunately for those who have been looking forward to the vote, the new library will not materialize by magic. There is a long road ahead.

Girls Varsity Lax Stays on Track
The girls Varsity lacrosse team went to 3-0 this past week by defeating Syosset 10-3. Manhasset controlled the game from the start, with Lauren Taylor (1g,2a) and Kate Breslin (3g,1a) running the offense. Juniors Juliette White (2g), Bridgette Millard (1g), and Kathleen Kelly (1g) all got into the act, with Meredith Hotarek and Aly English each adding a goal. Once again, goalie Ashley Devins (9 saves) captained the defensive effort.
