Marie Hayes, a longtime resident of Manhasset and Port Washington died July 1, 2002 after suffering a stroke. Born and raised in Manhasset, Marie married Richard Hayes in 1955. They raised three children in Port Washington and were members of Manhasset Bay Yacht Club.

For the past 10 years, Richard and Marie have been living in Sharon, CT, while traveling all over the world. Marie is survived by her husband Richard, along with their three children Kathleen Hayes-Updegrove of Hamden, CT, Michael Hayes of Avon, CO and Elizabeth Hayes of Manhattan. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Mariel, Derek and Johannna, her sister Rita and many nieces and nephews.
