This past week, the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team began their quest in the playoffs by soundly defeating Mineola. Manhasset's potent offensive unit put 20 goals on the board, 9 of which were assisted. Leading the charge were juniors Kate Breslin (5g, 1a) and Meredith Hotarek (3g, 2a), and sophomore Lauren Taylor (4g, 1a). Julliette White (2g, 2a), Arianna Parasco (2g), and Kendra Bernard (1g, 1a), all sophomores, helped balance out the scoring, with freshman Aly English (2g). Senior Jessica Shriftman scored her first goal of the season. After a difficult few games late in the season, Manhasset seems to have regrouped, with passing and ball movement notably improved. Defensively, Katie Killeen, Mary Kate Denihan, Lyndsey Buhr, Amy Torpe, and Tori Maino all worked to shut down Mineola's attack. Goalie Ashley Devins recorded 7 saves and shut Mineola out for the first half. In the second half, Stella Kim notched 6 saves. The team continues their playoff run against Floral Park at home on Wednesday, May 22.
