I would like my friends and neighbors to be aware of the work that has been done at the Salutations Stationery Store on Plandome Road (next to Louie's). The owner, Franco, has personally designed and constructed a new interior that makes purchasing the daily paper a very pleasant experience. Upon discovering the authentic tin ceiling, Franco was inspired to follow through with a renovation and improvement consisting of retro design as well as selling items from the past that evoke some wonderful memories. Manhasset residents can now purchase fresh popcorn, slushies, gumballs and waxed lips, with daily pastries and freshly scooped ice cream to come!

How refreshing to have a local merchant actually care enough about his clients to spend his time, money, and effort in creating a clean and pleasant atmosphere. I was purchasing my daily paper recently when another patron had the audacity to ask, "Why are you spending so much money on this place?" Franco pleasantly responded by asking the customer if he lived in Manhasset, and if so, doesn't he feel that his town deserves a clean and interesting shop, one where the owner takes pride in its appearance? The man not only agreed with but also thanked him. I told Franco how terrific the place looks and how much I enjoyed observing the "work in progress" evolve from stripping down the old and bringing in the new and I believe many Manhasset residents would enjoy it as well. So, the next time you're on Plandome Rd., stop by, say "Hi" and "thanks" to the owner and experience a few good memories while making your purchase. If Franco feels we deserve his time and effort, I feel he deserves our business.
