To the residents of Manhasset:
The proposed use for Greentree is completely incompatible with your town. What happens when a kid from St. Mary's wanders on to the property and encounters these intense security forces? How can Manhasset, which has been so devastated by the events of 9/11, be asked to host hostile government officials? This is completely insensitive, and without a variance, illegal. Every year we send the Town of North Hempstead hundreds of thousands of dollars more than we get back and this is how we are governed? This is how we are repaid?
My friends, this should be the last straw - Not only should we oppose this variance in force, we should examine all of our options for seceding from the Town of North Hempstead. Manhasset does not need to be governed by the Town of North Hempstead. Indeed, Manhasset's association with the Town of North Hempstead is costing you plenty and compromising Manhasset's future. We have all of the resources needed to govern ourselves, we can, and we should.
