Last week, the Girls Varsity lacrosse team continued its roll within the league by defeating Wantagh 11-9. Manhasset got on the board first, but was never able to completely pull away, as Wantagh employed a very physical defensive scheme, often doubling Manhasset's leading scorer Kate Breslin (3g, 1a). However, the offensive unit worked the ball, with Arianna Parasco (2g, 2a) and Lauren Taylor (3g) contributing. Caroline Buhr finished the half by scoring her first goal of the season as time expired. The second half was tightly controlled, with Julliette White (1g,1a) and Meredith Hotarek (1g,1a) getting on the board for Manhasset. Finally, with a two goal lead, the home team held the ball out impressively and ran out the game.
On Saturday night under the lights in Farmingdale, Manhasset lost a tough non-league game to Northport, 8-6. The first half was back and forth with Northport taking the early lead, but Manhasset roared back to tie. Kendra Bernard (1g, 1a) covered the entire field aggressively, and Kate Breslin (3g, 1a) found the net, even though she was double and triple teamed throughout the game. Also scoring for Manhasset were Lauren Taylor (1g) and Meredith Hotarek (1g). Manhasset's defense kept them in the game, with Katie Killeen, Lindsey Buhr, Tori Maino, and Mary Kate Denihan limiting a very fast, high powered offense. Goalie Ashley Devins anchored the unit, making 13 saves.
