Over the past few years we have often commented in this space on the inadequacy of our library's facilities, but despite that, and it's still true, the library does an extraordinary job. In a relatively short time we have seen the card catalog replaced by computers which enable us to gain access to the library's files over the Internet. We have seen the addition of videotapes, audiotapes, CDs and DVDs. Aside from these changes, we have seen a great expansion of the library's programs. If you haven't yet made a habit of it, turn to page 2 of today's Manhasset Press and get an idea of the varied programs the library offers. From live jazz to a poetry program to book discussions, digital photography and keeping your balance (literally), it's all there. There's also a reminder that Wednesday, April 24 is the date to vote for the library's budget and the election of a trustee. It's still the best bargain in town. To quote the old jingle that used to run on TV:
Oh, the place for you
And the place for me
Is our local public library.
They have books and things
That they lend for free.
It's the latest,
It's the greatest,
It's the library.
