A critical point in Nassau's fiscal recovery came when the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA), the state oversight board, reviewed County Executive Tom Suozzi's four-year financial plan and gave it a vote of confidence. The Blitz played their first game of the season in a cold 40 degree temperature against the Wantagh Warriors. Coach Bitter was worried his team was not going to be ready because of the Easter Vacation. Many of his players were away for their first practices so the coaches were glad to see their team control the game from the outset.
