Manhasset Girls Varsity Lacrosse won three games during the vacation week, first overwhelming New Hyde Park 17-4. The defense set the tone in this game as Katie Killeen, MaryKate Denihan and Lindsay Buhr constantly harassed the opposing attack. Goalies Stella Kim (eight saves) and Ashley Devins (five saves) continued their great play. Offensively, the load was shared as Kate Breslin (4g, 4a), Meredith Hotarek (3g, 1a), Ariana Parasco (3g, 1a), Kendra Bernard (4g), Lauren Taylor (3a), Juliette White (1g, 1a) and Aly English (1g) all got on the board.
The next game was against a scrappy Syosset team, and Manhasset came out lackadaisically. Manhasset took the early lead behind the scoring of Bernard, White and Taylor, who each ended with two goals, one assist, but Syosset came back to take the lead behind a well orchestrated ball control offense. After an animated pep talk from their coach at halftime, Manhasset turned it up offensively. Breslin (7g, la) took over, English (1g) and Whitney Casser (1g) scored, and Manhasset prevailed 15-10.
Finally, on Saturday, the entire team contributed to a 17-7 victory over North Shore. Goalies Kim (four saves) and Devlin (six saves) remained consistent, the transition game resulted in many easy shots, and Breslin (6g, 1a), Taylor (4g, 1a), Bernard (3g, 2a), Hotarek (2g, 1a), White (1g, 1a), English (2a), and Parasco (1g) continued their scoring ways. The team is now 6-1.
