The MHS Varsity Boys Swim Team took another step closer to the end of their remarkable journey. The team's dedication and hard work all season, which could be seen in longer practices and a weight-training program, paid big dividends as the team continued its winning season.
Seeded 11th for the February 9 County Finals, Manhasset finished 8th in the county. Personal bests were recorded by: Alex Kassl, with a time of 2:06.12 in the 200 freestyle (16th in the county) and 1:01.17 in the 100 butterfly (12th in the county); John Lawrence 2:13.76 in the 200 freestyle (25th in the county) and 5:56.35 in the 500 freestyle (18th in the county); Lorenzo Napolitano 1:08.52 in the 100 backstroke (17th in the county).
Kevin Clemency posted a 23.97 in the 50 freestyle (10th in the county) and 53.90 in the 100 freestyle (11th in the county). Alex Horowitz placed fourth in the county in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.41 and fifth in the county for the 100 freestyle (52.31).
A strong showing in the 400 free relay (Kevin Clemency, Alex Horowitz, Alex Kassl and Lorenzo Napolitano) powered the team to sixth place in the county, with a time of 3:45.97.
Six members of the team also won All-Conference honors: Mike Bluhm (200 free relay); John Lawrence (500 freestyle); Lorenzo Napolitano (400 free relay); Kevin Clemency (50 free, 200 and 400 free relays); Alex Horowitz (50free, 100 free, 200 and 400 free relays); Alex Kassl (200 free, 100fly, 200 and 400 free relays).

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team rebounded from a tough non-league loss to defeat Carle Place 16-10 last week. Manhasset led 11-2 at the half with its defense, led by Captain Katie Killeen and Lindsay Buhr, dominating the game. Mary Kate Denihan and Ariana Prasco were also key contributors defensively. At the other end of the field, Kate Breslin (5g,5a) led the charge, with ample help from sophomore Lauren Taylor (3g,2a) and junior Meredith Hotarek (3g,2a). Kendra Bernard (2g,1a) was effective all over the field, and Juliete White, Aly English, and Jill Sala each chipped in with a goal. Goalie Stella Kim had 11 saves.
