Progress Report on the Library Building Project
Update from the Library Board of Trustees: --
We are very pleased to report that the proposed plan to build a new library for Manhasset is moving ahead. It is a project with quite a few parts, all of which must be completed before the whole plan can be put before the voters in a referendum. Here's a report on our progress to date.

Town Councilman Fred Pollack Named Liaison to Manhasset
"You're lucky to have him," said one Manhasset merchant when she heard that North Hempstead Councilman Fred Pollack had been named liaison to the Manhasset community. Mr. Pollack, who was elected in November, had served a previous term on the board, losing his bid for re-election in 1997. This time around he was successful and was sworn in on Jan. 1, 2002.

On Tuesday night in front of 2,000 fans at Hofstra, St. Mary's Gaels became the first CHSAA boy's basketball team to win five straight titles.

Gaels Prepare for States
St. Mary's Gaels Varsity Hockey Team captured the Long Island bragging rights for the seventh year in a row recently by defeating the Suffolk League Chapters and previously undefeated St. Anthony's 5-1 in a recent game at Iceworks. The team now prepares for the New York State High School Championships to be held in Rochester March 15-17. The Gaels will be shooting for their seventh State Title in eight years.
