The Manhasset Public Library will hold its annual budget vote on April 24 in the community room between the hours of 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. There will also be the election of one trustee to succeed Francis J. Hone for a term of five years, to expire on June 30, 2007. A public hearing on the budget will be held in the community room of the library on April 10 at 8 p.m. A detailed statement of the money which will be required for public library purposes will be presented. Beginning on Wednesday, April 3, a copy of this statement may be obtained by any resident of the district at the Manhasset Public Library during regular library hours. Beginning April 10 the budget statement will also be available at Munsey Park Elementary School, Shelter Rock Elementary School, Manhasset Middle School and Manhasset High School during regular business hours.

Petitions nominating a candidate to succeed Mr. Hone as a member of the board of trustees of the library must be filed with the business office of the Manhasset Public Library not later than 5 p.m. on March 25. Petition forms may be obtained from the library director at the library during regular library hours any day that the library is open. Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters. Each nominating petition must state the name and residence of each signer and must state the name and residence of the candidate.

The board of registration will meet to register qualified voters in the community room of the library on Wednesday, April 10, between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. to add any additional names to the register. The register will be filed in the office of the library district clerk and will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the district on each of the five days prior to the day set for the election between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. except Sundays, and at the polling place on the day of the vote.

Absentee ballots may be obtained from the library business office during regular library hours. If the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the completed application must be received by the library business office no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, or on the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. The library business office must receive absentee ballots no later than 5 p.m. on April 24.
